TY COBB SUPPORTS ANTI DISCRIMINATION BILL
Although speaking out against domestic partnerships, Cobb strongly voiced support for the bill forbidding discrimination against gays and other people in public accommodations. Nevada is a state that prides itself on "personal freedom," said Cobb about SB207, and the bill will become the law that allows everyone "to enjoy the personal freedom Nevada has to offer." COBB OPPOSES DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP LEGISLATION
Assemblyman Ty Cobb, R-Reno, disagreed saying while the bill doesn't directly conflict with the Nevada Constitution which defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman, "It directly conflicts with the intent and will of the people. It assigns the same privileges, rights and responsibilities to privileges given to a marriage," he said. GOVENOR GIBBONS' NEW BUDGET PLAN
Assemblyman Ty Cobb, R-Reno, said he backs Gibbons' new plan because it balances the state budget without tax increases. But he doubts it has much chance at "this tax and spend Legislature." Cobb added that studies show children do not show permanent academic improvements with full-day kindergarten. "All-day kindergarten is all-day kiddy care," Cobb said. NEVADA BILL REQUIRES MORATORIUM, STUDY OF DEATH PENALTY COST
But Assemblyman Ty Cobb, R-Reno, said there's no need to prohibit executions while a study is conducted. He said regardless of cost, there are crimes for which a death sentence is the appropriate response, such as in the case of the murder and rape of Brianna Denison, who was kidnapped from a friend's house early last year and found dead in a field weeks later.
